I don't know if I can say 'Jayaram' is back.
But I'm sure after a long time I witnessed the much awaited actor and star Jayaram. 'Abraham Ozler' is an investigation crime thriller drama. Ozler; Jayaram; undergoing a serious mental condition due to lack of sleep. It's because of his past. The story starts from an investigation of a murder happening inside a hospital. While the investigation is going on, another murder also happens the same way as the previous murder. Like all crime investigation thriller movies, Who is the killer? Is there any connection with the victims? Who will be the next target? And what's the reason behind this? are the story of this film. The movie takes more time for character introduction, cases and for the investigation in the first half. Slow and steady first half. Solving questions but kept the mystery unsolved. The interval block was so good. Personally it's worked well for me. That type of treatment is much needed for the film at that time. Coming to the second half; investigation continues, pressure building scenes, the flashback and the 'MEGA' thing. The flashback portions were made well. Good choice of song; the old Mammootty song; and the visualisation also gives a good pleasant vibe. Thanks to Midhun Manuel for not touching the cliche revenge reason. I thought he may use Anaswara for it, but not. The film has no end. Still things are waiting for Ozler.
Jayaram did his job excellently. An officer who is mentally depressed and has no sleep. His mannerisms, dialogue delivery and even the walk too tell us about his condition. All the cast did their job well. The film is good in technical aspects also. Great cinematography, editing and superb background score. They all handled the devil's entry perfectly. It was absolutely top notch.
As I said before, the film took more time in the first half. Even though it's good, sometimes, I felt, it should've been faster. In the second half, the devil's alternative should've done more cinematic and should've placed some mystery. That could've been more thrilling. The predictably is high. Many scenes are predictable.
Overall a very good crime investigation thriller drama. Like the director said, it's not another 'Anjaam Pathira'. But for me, this is a good theatre experience.
