The film should have explored more of Sambhaji's life as a whole, his early life, growing up as captive under Mughals, his other expeditions with neighbouring kingdoms to show his true valour. But the movie only focuses on war against Mughal ruler aurangzeb. And over use of the word swarajya. It feels like its trying to push hindu muslim narrative. Despite of that narrative film lacks emotional depth of the characters, The film really shines at the end with the battle and final torture of sambhaji. Vicky Kaushal really does a good job there. But he was also weak in emotional scenes. I feel if the makers intention was really to show his real prowess and successful maratha ruler then should have showed his other conquests where he won and grew in stature. But here against Aurangzeb he gets killed and marathas loses the battle, so you can understand that they wanted to push a specific narrative rather than show the life of sambhaji. The film's dialogues were also really weak, none of them makes an impression on you as viewers. Rashmika's character feels added just for sake. A brilliant opportunity to tell the captivating story of a great ruler, but it gets lost into unnecessary things which ruins the biography.
