MAN OF CINEMA
Terrific cast but underwhelming and jarring screenplay.
Oh Cannada tries to be what the movie "Millennium Actress" was, but with a more realistic and self-reflecting tone and story.
We learn that Gere's character Leo Fife's life was not the same as portrayed in the media and public. Now in his final interview he jogs back to his old memories and shows us he was a coward and selfish, how his life was made up of lies.
The film teases the idea of man on his death bed becoming nothing less than a jar of memories, regrets and mistakes and trying hard to redeem himself in his last days, but he gets lost between his own complexities, moral dilemmas and self contradicting memories.
The film begins as homage to many legendary stars faded away and their contradictory dual lives, but soon the film spirals into aimless flashbacks, moral sides and melodramatic sequences which offers not much to the story.
