MAN OF CINEMA
A rather more sensitive coming-of-age drama, filled with humour, love and a
sense of finding yourself from the rubble. But its not completely a feel good movie, it does carry emotional depth through the character of totone.
I really liked the film’s some quieter and intimate moments which highlights angst-ridden, rebel , and care free phase of adolescence. All this is depicted with honesty and sincerity.
The film is set in a rural french region where a teenage kid suddenly faces a tragic fate and he has to adopt the role of an adult, not only redefine himself and also look after his little sister. Really highlights kid's unpreparedness and desperation to act as an adult and burdened with responsibilities in this world with little no help.
The screenplay of the film is very well executed with moments of sadness , helplessness and uplifting moments which gives a more nuanced take on adolescent life.
but still at the end the overall feeling you get that is the film has not reached its full potential and that's where the debutant director's lack of experience comes in. But still a very promising debut.
