across as very unapologetic, dramatic and intense court room drama about infamous court case of very heartbreaking and Cruel genocide committed Dyer and the british raj. This might be the first time in indian period films where we hear Fuck You words so many times and all pointed towards British Raj and deservedly so. Those moments really elevate the audience's emotions and energy. It feels like they finally erupted with all that baggage of trauma we had to carry over the years. I enjoyed the movie bits and parts, certain things about the film let me down. The casting , the item dance, the language and the authenticity in some parts. Also some scenes were felt exaggerated for the theatrics. I really wish the makers had kept it subtle and honest with the same anger and energy content carried. But they focused on melodrama and massy elements just to make it commercially viable in theatres in certain regions. No doubt that Akshay Kumar has that energy and anger inside him, he carries that prowess. But he was not the right cast for this film. Even if R Madhavan played a Nair character i would have said that's okay. Sankaran Nair was a Tamil guy, the casting to be perfect and we don't hear a single word of tamil as we know how much they love their mother tongue. Instead he spoke fluent hindi. And that time hindi was not a language, most people spoke hindustani, which was a mixture of hindi and urdu. Another language mistake i found was that all british people were speaking hindi so fluently. I understand you are doing it for the audience, but we can understand english and we want characters to stay true to their nature. Certain has slow motion entries and long melodramatic scenes where it was not even required, and personally I don't like that. If the film had these things done right, the movie would have been 4/5. Thats why people content is king, but despite having good content you mix it with wrong elements then it loses its essence. At least for me.
