Gifted

brings up his 7 yr old niece who’s a math genius and can solve complex problems . But her uncle wants her to develop social skills and sends her to school and slowly we get the backstory of how these two got together along with the one eyed cat Fred .we get know bout her genius mom and how they’ve been staying away from their mom and this gives rise to a custody battle and you know how this is going to end . But we are given few endearing moments so that we build a connection to the lead characters just like their neighbour played by Octavia spencer . But I felt if someone else had played the Chris Evans character who could channelise the disappointments, hurt feelings and the possibility of losing the child better then it could have hit us better . Somehow I didn’t find his acting very convincing . Though it kind of has a cinematic convenient ending , I was happy it ended this way because of obvious reasons . It’s a feel good film laced with some emotional moments which could have worked out better .
