With 'Killers of The Flower Moon', one could almost hear the auteur saying, 'I
know it's the age of diminishing attention span. I know the state of theatres and I know the runtime reduces the number of shows per screen. But I'm Martin freakin' Scorsese. You don't tell me how I should make my film. This is my movie and you will watch it.'
Yes, sir. We agree. This was 206 minutes of spellbinding storytelling and I'm up for a second viewing already. At 80, after putting his soul into the paper and in mounting such a mammoth production, Scorsese deserves to make his movie without any compromises.
The non-linear storytelling did feel a little jerky towards the end, especially when he chose to spell out something he had already established. But none of it mattered thanks to what cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto and actors, DiCaprio and Gladstone in particular, pulled off here.
