Tragic.Heart-rending. Raw. My heart weeps for the Native Americans. This is one of the most important films in recent times, if not the most important one. I must confess that I've blasphemed by not watching the film in one sitting. But watching Killers of the Flower Moon in parts allowed me to absorb and comprehend the movie better than I would have otherwise. The film is a slow burner and I feel like it could've worked just as well if not better as a mini-series. I'm feeling so many things right now. I'm frustrated. Sad. Angry. I'm angry at white settlers for exploiting and pillaging and killing indigenous people. I'm frustrated because such incidents are brushed off as ‘past’ and people are told to ‘move on’ (and if something of that sort happens in real time, people often tend to turn a blind eye to it). I'm sad because educators feel scared to teach about the incident lest they jeopardize their careers. A story like this needed to be told. Even though said story is from a white perspective (which is an entirely different discourse), it's exceedingly important.
