'Mahanati''s writing can be slightly cliched in beats & at points but it still
manages to reel you in & impact you, in a very efficient manner.
The production design here is outstanding & the sets, the world created completely transports you to that era.
The costuming is intricate, so is the production value.
Runtime is super-tight with 3 hrs. almost flying by.
The only nitpick would be some of the cuts that feel a bit too sudden, otherwise the film is quite well-made.
The cinematography is equally or even more amazing with the overall colour palette accentuating it even more.
The shots are gorgeous & add so much to the film.
The music is ever-present but never overbearing, it's so thematically placed, it never feels out of place.
The songs are also very fluidly incorporated.
This is one of those rare films where almost everyone has done such a tremendous job that no actor truly stands out & even though keerthy suresh is our lead & gives an extremely amazing performance, no other actor feels even slightly inferior to her.
Direction by Ashwin is commendable AF for his vision & the overall scope & while the story-beats are pretty standard, to still be able to engage the viewer through this not-so-short film is no mean feat.
All in all, a really good film which makes me so hyped for Nag's next!
