However, once the investigation begins and the police officers come across a small plot twist, the screenplay loses its grip. Around the interval, the film presents a major challenge for the investigating officers, but instead of being surprising, it makes you wonder what kind of blunder the officers made. The twist can also be guessed much earlier with simple common sense. The second half is where the film struggles the most. The repeated use of flashback scenes also becomes repetitive and slows down the narration. An item song in the second half feels completely unnecessary and breaks the flow of the film. It feels like the screenplay is mainly focused on reaching the climax so it can deliver its emotional message. Thankfully, the final act works much better. The emotional content that the film has been building finally connects with the audience, and the climax is presented in a heartfelt way. Overall, Uyir doesn't fully succeed as a thriller because of its weak and oudated writing. but its emotional climax leaves a lasting impression and stands out as the film's strongest part.
