Ulajh is driven by loyalty and betrayal.It begins with a young, ambitious protagonist set to make her mark as a responsible bureaucrat. But reading through bureaucratic documents is one thing; seeing through people is another. Young and gullible, Suhana has weak spots, and the wrong people find out about them at the right time. Blackmailed and forced to leak sensitive information, Suhana’s options aren't black and white—and that is what makes her journey so intriguing. As another character in the film points out to her, in bureaucracy, she will constantly be faced with the task of choosing the lesser evil. But how can you choose the lesser evil when everyone around you is wearing masks? How do you choose the lesser evil when characters change their loyalties so often? Knowing people, knowing the distance between their intentions and their pretenses—thats the trick that Suhana has to figure out in Ulajh, and as the film inches closer to its final reveal, you see how Suhana learns to read people.
