An excellent thriller that flows roughly but engages outstandingly. The non-linear screenplay works most of the time and feels too much at places. Leo John Paul's direction was great and his vision was fantastic. If not for the poor VFX, the experience at those VFX-heavy sequences would have been goosebumps-inducing. His editing was great but could have been done better in par with the intensity of the film. The acting performances were a major problem. Vijay Antony only does well with roles like Sk's Doctor. Him performing in emotional sequences still doesn't work. Samuthirakani, whenever he appear was cringe af. He wasn't even needed in the film. Some of the dialogues in the film were cheesy and the seriousness at places was a very try-hard stuff. Ajay Dhishan was good for his debut but still he needs to improve. Brigada Saga was good. She did her part very well. Finally we get to see a woman police officer without any over-the-top artificial acting written for them. Talking about artificial, some emotional scenes were very artificial. Seshvitha Raju was fantastic. She nailed her role perfectly. The Cinematography by S. Yuva was beautiful. The colour palette was amazing. The underwater sequences were really beautiful to watch. The score and music by Vijay Antony himself was amazing. " Until Racism exists, casteism and religious war will never end." I would increase half a star just for this dialogue but iam not doing it because of the flaws this film contains. But still the social messaging was absolutely fantastic. Revealing it in the credits scene was a need-less blunder. They should have carried it with the plot itself. The title card with the Why? was fantastic but if he wants to end it there just add one more dialogue and frame with the pic of her in clg and Racism, then it would have been fire but adding amazing message in the credits sequence was disappointing. But what Racism can do to a person is portrayed here with such rage and I loved it. The metaphorical representations were excellent with the owl and stuff equivalent to darkness vision and many more stuff. The mythological elements were magnificently executed. Leo also crticised major aspects of this cinefield briefly. I predicted it would be a girl near the end but they blew my mind off by adding the message of Racism and that being the major plot twist. Excellent writing. The fight set piece didn't feel forced and was superbly choreographed. Black is Beautiful! The world after Covid <<<<<<<<<<< Must watch film. Finally atleast one Tamil film is present in the Metro zone which is whole Chennai btw. But see we didn't even see one Tamil film even mentioning the metro works in the film yet. See how distant we are and how un-rooted we ( Kollywood ) became. Metro Works are annoying btw even though it would bring development. But still half of the money goes into the red-and-black's pockets so yeah.
