PS2 is more emotionally rooted with the tragic love story forming the crux ofthe epic.. vikram as karikalan has got more meat in this part compared to the previous film and he has hit it for a six.. his performance is so grounded and at the same time you know he’s hurting .. he knows what’s gonna happen when he goes to meet Nandini .. for me the movie ended when Nandini comes to know the truth .. though I have to be frank I was disappointed with the changed ending but with the compressed format you will probably have to make peace with it.. The ending portions are a lil mundane and even the interval portion there is good tension build up but the payoff doesn’t land well.. I would love to watch it once again without the first day distractions.. you can always say that this was a series material but then you won’t be able to see an auteur like Mani Ratnam on a small screen so I’m happy that the director after 40 years managed to make the epic that he always wanted ..
